Why Choose a Bottle Brush for Your Garden?
Callistemon ‘Inferno’ is a fantastic ornamental shrub for gardeners seeking bold colour, evergreen structure, and wildlife appeal. Its signature red bottlebrush flowers are not only eye-catching but also rich in nectar, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. The softer, less bristly foliage and smooth stems give it a tidier, more refined appearance than some other bottlebrush varieties.
Ideal for a range of settings, ‘Inferno’ performs beautifully in:
Sunny borders and Mediterranean-style gardens
Coastal and gravel gardens
Large patio containers in sheltered spots
Urban gardens with mild microclimates
Wildlife-friendly planting schemes
Its upright, bushy shape makes it a striking feature on its own, or a vibrant addition to mixed shrub beds.

Growing Tips
Planting Location:
Plant in a warm, sunny position with shelter from cold winds. A south-facing or west-facing aspect is ideal, especially in milder regions of the UK.
Soil:
Prefers acidic to neutral, free-draining soil. Avoid heavy clay or waterlogged areas. If growing in a pot, use ericaceous compost or a mix suitable for acid-loving plants.
Watering:
Water regularly during establishment and dry spells, particularly in containers. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant.
Feeding:
Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser or one formulated for acid-loving plants to support flower production and healthy foliage.
Pruning:
After flowering, lightly prune back stems to encourage bushiness and promote a second flush of blooms. Avoid cutting into old wood. Remove faded flower spikes to maintain a tidy shape.
Winter Care:
Hardy in sheltered areas, but protect from prolonged or severe frost with fleece or by moving containers to a frost-free area. A mulch around the base in autumn helps insulate roots.
