Why Choose Clematis ‘Guernsey Cream’ for Your Garden?

‘Guernsey Cream’ is a must-have for gardeners who appreciate refined beauty and versatile performance. Its soft, creamy petals offer a gentle contrast to brick walls, dark fences, or climbing companions like deep purple clematis or roses. Ideal for containers, small spaces, or as a vertical accent in flower beds, it’s a compact variety that doesn’t compromise on flower power.

Garden Highlights:

  • Beautiful, creamy blooms with a delicate green tint for a unique look

  • Compact growth – perfect for patios, containers, or small gardens

  • Dual flowering – enjoy a second flush later in the season

  • Low maintenance – easy pruning and care

  • Pollinator friendly – attracts bees and other beneficial insects

  • Perfect partner for roses, darker clematis, or evergreen backdrops

Growing Tips

Light & Position

Plant in full sun or part shade. In hotter climates, partial shade will help preserve the rich cream colour and prevent fading. Shade the base of the plant to keep roots cool (e.g., with ground cover plants or mulch).

Soil

Prefers moist, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Avoid waterlogged conditions.

Watering & Feeding

Water regularly during dry spells, especially in containers. Feed in spring and again after the first flush of flowers with a balanced fertiliser.

Pruning (Group 2)

Lightly prune in late winter or early spring by removing weak or dead stems and cutting back remaining stems to strong buds. After the first flush of flowers, trim lightly to encourage reblooming.
