Growing Tips
Best Position
Plant in full sun for the strongest red and orange foliage. It will tolerate partial shade but colours may be softer.
Soil Preparation
Grow in moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Nandina prefer slightly acidic to neutral conditions; add ericaceous compost if your soil is alkaline.
Support & Training
A neat, naturally compact shrub – no support needed.
Pruning
Generally no pruning required. Remove any damaged or overly long stems in early spring to keep the plant tidy.
Winter Care
Hardy across most of the UK. In very cold or exposed sites, apply mulch around the base over winter and protect container-grown plants from severe frost.
